Recitals in schools

Please contact us if you would like one of the musicians appearing at the Roman River Festival to give a recital to your pupils. Please look at the events section of the website to choose the performer.

2015 secondary schools recital offer – details

2014

In 2014 Vive gave four recitals at Colchester Academy, The Gilberd School, Colchester County High School for Girls, and Thomas Lord Audley. The Celan Quartet at Philip Morant Academy, Tom Poster at Colchester 6th form College, Guy Johnston, Tom Poster and Mark Simpson at Colchester Royal Grammar School, The Escher Quartet at Colchester Institute and The Marian Consort at Manningtree School.

 

Insight concert – end of September 2017

An opportunity for GCSE and A level students to hear the works they are studying live, right here in Colchester, by the virtuoso festival orchestra, with discussion and live analysis. Please email Julie Cuthbert for details..

‘Side-by-side’ ensemble

An opportunity for young players to rehearse perform alongside top professional musicians in September 2015 and perform on Sunday 4th October. Young musicians should email Julie Cuthbert.

 

 

Performance opportunities

You can recommend a young musician or group aged 25 or younger, to perform a short work at the beginning of a festival concert for. Get in touch with Julie Cuthbert to find out more.

 

Coaching

Please email us if you know of a young chamber group who would like to have a free coaching session from one of the festival musicians.

 

Composition project 2014-15

GCSE and A level groups can compose a short piece inspired by one of the major works in the festival, assisted by a composer provided by Roman River Music. The pupils’ work will then be performed at one of the festival concerts in between the major works on the concert programme. Please email us for more information.

 

Opportunity to join the 2015 festival choir
