Poulenc’s songs reveal his rare gift for drawing out the very essence of poetry with his music. Raphaela Papadakis and Karim Sulayman have selected some of their personal favourites to round off a very special weekend of unique performances.
Then we reach our climax with Chausson’s magnificent Concert. Too rarely heard due to its unusual forces, the Concert is filled with glorious, romantic melodies and bravura display. Following its premiere, Chausson declared
“Never have I had such a success! I can’t get over it. Everyone seems to love the Concert”
